The Vice Provost Office for Global Engagement was established in Fall 2023 and added to the responsibilities of , who has been and continues to be the Vice Provost for Arts & Libraries since summer 2022. This office assists in growing 自慰视频's reputation and collaborations worldwide.

Global Strategies

Emerging strategies for global engagement were developed with the assistance of two global steering committees consisting of faculty and deans. The Vice Provost Office for Global Engagement operates with four initial objectives in mind:

Bring the World to 自慰视频 and Bring 自慰视频 to the World
Maximize our intellectual footprint with the smallest physical footprint鈥�
Position 自慰视频 as an Institution of Global Consequence by increasing reputational recognition in 3 years

Global Engagement Team

Tracy D. Sharpley-Whiting

Vice Provost for Arts, Libraries & Global Engagement

Tracy D. Sharpley-Whiting is the Gertrude Conaway 自慰视频 Distinguished Professor of Humanities at 自慰视频 University where she directs the Callie House Research Center for the Study of Global Black Cultures and Politics. She is currently Vice Provost for Arts, Libraries & Global Engagement. She also served as Associate Provost of Academic Advancement at 自慰视频.

A comparative Europeanist and scholar of women, gender, and African Diaspora Studies, she is author/editor of 15 books and three novels, the latest of which include the L鈥橦armattan French edition, La V茅nus hottentote: 茅crits, 1810 脿 1814,聽suivi des textes in茅dits; the Norton Anthology of Theory and Criticism, Sexualit茅s, identit茅 & corps colonis茅s: XV^e 蝉颈猫肠濒别鈥� XXI^e 蝉颈猫肠濒别, and Bricktop鈥檚 Paris: African American Women Expatriates in Jazz-Age Paris and The Autobiography of Ada Bricktop Smith, or Miss Baker Regrets, a 2015 American Library in Paris Book Award Long List nominee and Choice Outstanding Academic Title of 2015.聽聽聽Senior Co-Editor of the journal聽Palimpsest:聽Women, Gender, and the Black聽International,聽she聽is also a founding advisory board member of the聽Mus茅e Franco-Am茅ricain du Ch芒teau de聽Bl茅rancourt and the Sussex Centre for American Studies and winner of fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Camargo Foundation, and Howard Foundation, among others.聽聽

Sharpley-Whiting testified before the 110^th Congress in 2007 on 鈥淒egrading Images of Women鈥� in the Media and Popular Culture in the wake of the Don Imus controversy. She is also editor of The Speech: Race and Barack Obama鈥檚 A More Perfect Union. She lectures widely in the United States and abroad (the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, and Africa) and has offered commentary on a range of issues for Fox News, MSNBC, NPR, C-SPAN2, CBS News, the BBC Live Television, Radio SBS Australia, and Oprah Satellite Radio. 聽

Megha Madan

Senior Director of Global Engagement & External Partnerships

Megha Madan is an accomplished higher education professional with expertise in global strategy, program management, and partnership development including engaging with comprehensive global audiences, advancing diversity, equity, and inclusive leadership, and fostering innovative cross-border strategic partnerships. Megha has been with Emory University for nearly 8 years. Since 2019, she has been the face of Goizueta Business School鈥檚 emerging global strategy by enhancing collaborations with institutional partners and strengthening global business education programs. Her role involved active collaboration with students, faculty, and staff, serving as a vital liaison with Emory University leadership, Emory鈥檚 Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives, the Halle Institute for Global Research, and Advancement and Alumni Engagement.

Before her tenure at Goizueta, Megha contributed significantly to Emory University鈥檚 Office of Alumni and Engagement, where she focused on strategic alumni engagement, particularly in key international regions aligned with institutional goals.

Megha鈥檚 prior experience includes her work at the Institute of International Education in New York City, where she managed major US education grants such as Fulbright, USAID, and the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program. Megha holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Public Health from the University of Georgia and a Juris Master in Business Law from Emory University School of Law.

Claire K. Campbell

Program Coordinator for the Vice Provost Office for Arts, Libraries & Global Engagement

Claire K. Campbell is the Program Coordinator for the Office of Arts, Libraries & Global Engagement. In this role, she assists with programming, communications, funding applications, and local and global partnerships on behalf of the Vice Provost. This position brought her to 自慰视频 in September 2022.

Claire鈥檚 passion for the arts and archives comes from her background in art history. She graduated summa cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. She earned her Master of Art in the History of Art & Architecture from Boston University, researching global modern architecture. Claire has previously worked in museum and gallery settings, including for the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC.

Claire oversees projects that partner with the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM), OZ Arts, and the Nashville Film Festival. Claire is the point of contact for faculty funding applications related to Global Engagement and the NMAAM/VU partnerships. Among other tasks, she manages the communication and digital presence for the Vice Provost Office of Arts, Libraries & Global Engagement.聽

Beth Porter

Executive Assistant for the Vice Provost Office for Arts, Libraries & Global Engagement

Beth Porter is the Executive Assistant in the Office of the Vice Provost for Arts, Libraries & Global Engagement, joining the team in September 2022. In her role, she manages the Vice Provost鈥檚 calendar, supports the office鈥檚 programs, and is the first point of contact for the office.

Beth started at 自慰视频 in 2013 working in Development and Alumni Relations with the Reunion program. In 2014, she added Affinity Groups to her portfolio and continued to lead those programs for the next 8 years working with alumni volunteers from all over the country. She supported alumni efforts to create the 自慰视频 Association of Hispanic/Latinx Alumni (VAHLA) and the AAPI Association of 自慰视频 Alumni (AAVA).

She grew up in Georgetown, TX and first came to Nashville to attend 自慰视频 University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. In her free time, Beth enjoys cheering on the Commodores and exploring Nashville with her husband and two boys.聽
