Brett J. Goldstein

Special Advisor to the Chancellor on National Security and Strategic Initiatives; Research Professor, School of Engineering, ×ÔοÊÓÆµ University

Brett J. Goldstein is a pioneering innovator and strategist whose career spans government, the private sector, and academia at the highest levels of national security, technology, and public policy. He serves as Special Advisor to the Chancellor on National Security and Strategic Initiatives and as a Research Professor in the School of Engineering at ×ÔοÊÓÆµ University, where he leads the Wicked Problems Lab within the Institute of National Security.Ìý

Goldstein hasÌýadvisedÌýCabinet Secretaries, C-suite executives, and start-ups on national security, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. He served as Director of the Defense Digital Service, reporting directly to the Secretary of Defense, and as Special Advisor to the United States Department of the Navy. He made history as the nation's first municipal Chief Data Officer as well as Chief Information Officer for the City of Chicago, where he built one of the premier data analytics programs in the country. He began his technology career at OpenTable and later co-foundedÌýEkisticÌýVentures, a venture capital fund focused on urban technology solutions.Ìý

Goldstein holds aÌýmaster's degree in Computer ScienceÌýfrom the University of Chicago, aÌýmaster's degree in Criminal JusticeÌýfrom Suffolk University, and aÌýbachelor's degree in GovernmentÌýfrom Connecticut College. He has held fellowship appointments at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the University of Chicago.ÌýÌý
