How can I enable third party cookies in Chrome to resolve Kaltura errors?

Brightspace Content is Getting Upgraded

Beginning with the Fall 2027 semester, Brightspace courses will default to the New Content Experience. Additionally, Instructors now have the ability to enable or disable the New Content Experience in their own courses ahead of the change in Fall 2027. For more information about this transition, see our New Content Experience Transition page.

There are several troubleshooting steps we can take if we get specific errors in Kaltura, most prominently the Access Denied error. The steps below will take you through the process of enabling third-party cookies in Chrome, which almost universally resolves this and several other errors.

Allowing Third-Party Cookies in Chrome

1) Open Chrome and select the more icon in the top right corner

2) Select Settings from the list

3) Find the Privacy and Security section and select Site Settings

4) From the Content section, select Cookies and site data

5) Select either Allow all cookies or Block third-party cookies in Incognito

Once you’ve completed these steps, return to Brightspace and attempt to access Kaltura again. If the error persists, refer to our other troubleshooting steps found here. If you’ve completed those troubleshooting steps and continue to receive an error message, contact us at brightspace@vanderbilt.edu for further assistance.
