AmericasBarometer
The AmericasBarometer is LAPOP Lab鈥檚 flagship survey project and the leading source for high-quality, comparative public opinion data on democracy and governance across the Americas. Conducted in regular rounds since 2004, the survey includes nationally representative samples of voting-age adults in countries across North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean.
Since its launch in 2004 with 11 countries, the AmericasBarometer has grown to include 34 countries in the hemisphere. Each round features a common core questionnaire and country-specific modules, enabling rigorous comparisons across countries and over time on topics such as political legitimacy, corruption, trust in institutions, state performance, civic engagement, citizen security, migration, and more.
The latest round, conducted in 2023, includes more than 41,000 interviews across 26 countries. To date, the AmericasBarometer has collected over 400,000 interviews across the region鈥攎aking it the most extensive survey project of its kind in the Americas.
