Emotional Resources

Emotional wellness is how you engage with and understand your own thoughts and feelings. The below resources are designed to help you nurture your mental health, respond to emotional challenges or difficult times, and seek support through a variety of offices, resources, and services. Your emotional health is not based on being happy all of the time, but rather acknowledging and coping with your feelings.

Center for Student Wellbeing (CSW) ★

The mission of the Center for Student Wellbeing is to create a culture that supports the personal development and academic success of students using an integrative, holistic framework. The CSW offers wellbeing, academic and peer coaching, recovery support services, meditation and yoga, skill-building workshops, substance use screenings, awareness and prevention programming, and referrals.

Student Care Coordination (SCC) ★

SCC is the central and first point of contact for students to help identify needs and determine the most appropriate resources in ×ÔοÊÓƵ’s Student Care Network and in the Nashville community to address concerns. Student Care Coordinators work collaboratively with students to develop a student success plan, share education about and facilitate connections to appropriate on and off-campus resources, and provide accountability through supportive follow-up meetings.

Student Health Center (SHC) ★

The Zerfoss Student Health Center serves the primary care needs of the ×ÔοÊÓƵ student community. There are no office co-pays for routine visits, and all registered students are eligible for care, regardless of insurance coverage.

University Counseling Center (UCC) ★
  • As a key component of ×ÔοÊÓƵ’s Student Care Network, the UCC provides mental health assessment, support, and treatment for all students enrolled at ×ÔοÊÓƵ, including undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
  • Highly skilled and multi-disciplinary teams of professionals offer urgent care, substance abuse counseling, short-term individual counseling, group therapy, biofeedback, ADHD and learning disorder assessments, and psychiatric assessment and pharmacologic treatment. Treatment plans are tailored to each individual’s unique background and needs. UCC professionals support the University’s mission of fostering inclusive excellence through cultural awareness and humility. In addition to the services mentioned, the UCC also offers various Drop-in Consultations and Workshops throughout each week.

Graduate and Postdoc Academic Success (GPAS) Program ★

The Graduate & Postdoc Academic Success (GPAS) program provides the critical infrastructure and support for College/School leadership, departments/programs, and faculty to assist their students and postdocs in reaching their academic goals. They do this through direct outreach to departments and faculty, responsive programming and workshops, and direct support of students and postdocs in alignment with their development as the next generation of scholars and leaders. In addition to tailored and responsive programming to support departments, graduate students, and postdoc needs, GPAS offers individual success planning sessions which include conversations around progress, productivity, and navigating academic relationships.

GriefNet (Center for Spiritual and Religious Life) ★

A support program for students experiencing death or other loss.

Headspace is a unique daily guided application that specializes in meditation. Learn to meditate and live mindfully with hundreds of themed sessions including stress, sleep, focus, and anxiety. Access to Headspace is free for all undergraduate students.

iHope Network provides video therapy to individuals who desire an easy, accessible way to connect with a mental health professional. Using your phone, tablet, or computer, iHope’s network of compassionate licensed clinicians delivers customized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatment that fits your individual needs and personal lifestyle. iHope Network accepts many insurance plans nationwide.

MAPS (Suicide Prevention) ★

MAPS is a ×ÔοÊÓƵ University joint initiative with the University Counseling Center (UCC) and the Center for Student Wellbeing (CSW) designed to prevent suicide in the campus community while promoting mental health awareness. The goal of MAPS is to work toward suicide prevention and mental health awareness through education and outreach in the campus community. The UCC staff will work with its campus partners throughout ×ÔοÊÓƵ University to provide skills to students, faculty, and staff to identify and assist those in need of help due to mental health concerns.

Project Safe ★

The mission of the Project Safe Center is to provide information, support, referrals, and education about sexual and intimate partner violence (including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking), as well as consent, healthy relationships, and healthy sexuality to the ×ÔοÊÓƵ University community. Project Safe serves as a central resource for those impacted by power-based personal violence and can assist with navigating the University’s resource and support network (including the University Counseling Center, Student Health Center, the Title IX & Discrimination Office, and the ×ÔοÊÓƵ University Police Department) as well as external support and law enforcement resources. ×ÔοÊÓƵ Behavioral Health offers highly specialized and personalized care — including inpatient mental health services — for  children, teens and adults. Services are available to treat addiction, mood disorders, and psychiatric disorders.

×ÔοÊÓƵ Recovery Support and AOD Resources ★

×ÔοÊÓƵ Recovery Support (VRS) provides a supportive and accountable community for individuals concerned about their alcohol or other drug misuse and those actively in recovery from addiction. This collegiate recovery program provided by the Center for Student Wellbeing offers biweekly meetings, monthly seminars, and recovery housing ().  Additionally, a support group for friends and family is offered. Students can also get connected with a variety of additional alcohol and other drug support resources by reaching out to the Center for Student Wellbeing.
